Unforeseen Change
Your laugh has been muted
Or maybe it’s just gotten louder
But in my ears it’s all the same—
Your beautiful pearls have turned to powder.
Your smile is crooked
And no longer lights up the room
But in my eyes it’s all darkness—
Your perfect hair is now a dusty broom.
Your eyes are dim
Or perhaps a little brighter
As they reveal your confused soul
Being strangled by the rope that I am pulling tighter.
