The Taunted Masquerade
Let me don my mask,
And I'll meet you at the ball.
I'll look within the crowd,
And we'll dance within the hall.
My mask will cloak my face,
And hide the hideous reality.
You won't have to see it
So spin me ever so swift-fully.
Don't worry if I'm enjoying it,
For all I feel is the pain.
Don't ask me if I love the music
For they're all so inane.
The lights go down,
And all there is is darkness.
Meant to be romantic
And bring out fondness.
But all it brings are memories
Painted and clothed in lies.
I try so hard to continue dancing,
But they are all that fill my eyes.
My mask, it hides my tears,
And covers up the truth
And everything that has tainted
My unforgiving youth.
Our souls so very tortured
And silent as they fade.
Welcome, my dears,
To the Taunted Masquerade.
