Most days I’m a dark shadow
in someone else’s spotlight
following their footsteps
destination is never clear, even in the night
stalking them without a sound
without question, without a second thought
Still always one step behind...

But when away from all the rest
I become a sharp shade of blue
turquoise dancing with a thousand sparkling diamonds
lights shining bright and new
I stand out, sparkle the way
I was supposed to

Only some have seen the sight
of me shining through the dark
But the the ones who have seen me
know that there is fire inside this heart.
