Oh, beauteous world,
With sweet golden light
That sighs as it fades
Into shadows of night—
Oh, beauteous world,
With light, swaying feet
That weary of dance
And wane with the heat—
Oh, beauteous world,
With summer’s last breath
That sings her last notes
Before sudden death—
Oh, beauteous world,
With joy once called mine
That sighs as it fades—
Cry not as you die.
