Mess Called Life
my mind is still
but my eyes are open
took so long to keep
my soul at rest
how often do I wake up
to this mess
we call life
how often do we fail
at fulfilling girlfriend, sister, best friend and
daughter
my mind is loud
and my eyes are closed
took so long to find a pasture
in the urban decay
how often do I hear
that I’m not enough
that I don’t answer my phone
or I’m the selfish one
But here in this pasture I’ve
got nothing but God and the grass and
the sun and my own confused
mind
Oh I put myself at rest.
I’m one to attest
I can’t be anything more than
what I am in this moment
‘your best’ is the summit of your
blood, sweat, and tears
so get off my back
and wrestle with your won life
how often do I wake up
to this mess we call life
how often do I steel the crowd
brace myself
my life is at high stakes
how often is my life a mess
but its Mine.
