It happens every time
that shiver that trickles down my spine
that quiver of my finger tips.
My heart rate rushes
as my young face flushes,
breathing becomes implausible,
thinking becomes impossible.
My skin as warm as life,
my heart as dark as night,
faking it just seems so alright.
I kiss you as a friend
and I watch your heart break once again.
