The Melodious Cave
Waves pound inside,
Blood returning to the heart,
Through the mouth open wide
Gushing in to be torn apart.
Ghostly light
Forced into the gloom;
Too much beauty
For human eyes to consume.
The Melodious Cave
Thrums with a pounding song,
A rhyme of swallowed wave,
The crash of a watery gong.
Deep and hollow,
Dark and cold,
All light to swallow,
All sound to hold.
The water's constant drone
Calls you deep inside
Into the expanse of dripping stone,
Endless, wide.
There you'll lose your way,
Your searching eyes
Stung by harsh spray,
Your questions met with thundering replies.
The Melodious Cave,
With its gift of Fingal's name,
Is killed over and over by the wave
In its endless game.
Holding darkness so near,
Ghostly light dies,
Replaced by flowing tears,
The cave's continuous cries.
