"I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying." -Oscar Wilde

I don't know how
but others may
why it would be wrong
to see the world this way

All I know
is what I've been told
I have to wonder
if those words are too old

The world was wrong
about Galileo and Snape
They were baffled
by the Earth's spherical shape

Who is to say
the weren't wrong again
when they looked to the heavens
and screamed out "Amen"

They say it's a sin
and an act of defiance
to open my ears
and listen to science

They call it faith
and the loss of the cynical
to open my eyes
and watch for a miracle

Is there science in faith?
Is there math in music?
No matter how hard I try
I have to refuse it

Coincidental miracles
and stories with no proof
are unbelievable
and easy to refute

I'd never come out
and call him a fraud
but it sure takes a lot
to say he's a god.

"Mommy, is Santa Claus real?"
"No, Sweetie."
"Mommy, is God real?"
"That's up to you, sweetie."

Raised by a very religious mother, God was never a question and only the answer. As I grew older, I was more aware of how controversial the idea of god(s) was, and I began to doubt in the being I had been told for years to love. I'm still not sure where I stand.
