A Life Fully Lived
I remember that day,better than the rest,
The ring, the dress, she made it look best;
We weren't wealthy,
But we were happy, together and healthy;
Three years later came six of our own,
We loved them dearly and sheltered them until they were fully grown;
Soon they were gone, her and I grew old,
They told us we were weak and we believe what they told;
We moved into the County Home,
We felt stuck in a glass dome;
This morning she died,
For three hours I cried;
And now I rot alone,
In this wheelchair, I cry and moan;
I am sad,
I am mad;
I wish they would let me be free,
So together again we could be;
I close my eyes and God hears my plea,
For this man, no more misery;
MY LIFE WAS A LIFE FULLY LIVED.
