The End of the Line

The end of the line
is a dream unrealized
that dies with the consequences surrounding it.
The end of the line spins out
rolls over
becomes a fiery crash site
that is the top news story on channel 6 at eleven o’clock.
I will never allow myself to reach the end of the line.
And if I do,
if by some tragic mistake I reach that point,
then I will submit to the stories-high flames,
and the end of the line
will simply be
The End.
