Never Alone
Baby, I don’t know where to start,
how can I explain what sits in my heart?
Words can’t express that look in your eyes,
the one of deep caring that keeps me surprised.
The feel of you arms, and me wrapped inside,
the touch of your finger on the tear I’ve just cried.
Your hands on my waist as we move to a beat,
we sway back and forth and I feel complete.
Your lips on my ear as you whisper to me
and tell me of all I can do and can be.
Your soft kiss that rests on my cheek,
the contrast of us – the strong and the meek.
Your motivation that brings me some hope,
your endless patience when I’m trying to cope.
Your kindness on days when I’m out-of-control,
the way that I know you’ll never let go.
The softness I see when you aren’t aware,
in the way that you look at me, the way that you stare.
Your fears that you hide but I feel that are jewels,
when I see them at last, I feel closer to you.
The pain in your eyes that rips me in half
and I’ll do what it takes to get happiness back.
The clench of your jaw when you’re fighting back words
and the screams rise inside me and beg to be heard.
Your trust that you hold so close and so safe
is the thing that I strive for each passing day.
The love in your heart that is matched by my own
brings me comfort in knowing that I’m never alone.
