A Model of George Ella Lyons's "Where I’m From"
I am from music,
From passion and creativity.
I am from fingers flying off the piano,
(black and white,
the notes ringing in the air)
I am from the worn dance floor,
The pointe shoes
That support my feet
As I twirl around and around on my toes.
I’m from the chipped tooth at 7,
From David and Melissa’s genes.
I’m from “Straight A’s”
And “Listen up”
From “Speak up” and “Be neat”.
I’m from a family of four,
The oldest sibling,
Always with responsibility.
I’m from Fremont, Malaysia, and Hong Kong,
Facebook and frozen yogurt,
From high tech gadgets and brand names.
Hidden in boxes, pictures and memories,
Holding the highlights of my life
With faces from the past.
Smiling in memory
Of moments relived again,
Captured and never forgotten
