Can You? I Can!
Pain! I feel pain
Do not tell me I don't know pain
Can you say you know
Pain that burns like acid under the skin
Melting your will, your mind?
I can
Can you say you've felt
Pain so intense, tearing your flesh
Would be preferred?
I can
And can you say you've heard
Pain keening from your cracked lips,
The sound of a bursting heart?
Because I can
Yet you tell me life is so good
When I am drowning in pain.
So I ask you,
Can you feel my pain?
I can!
