Mirrors
All the pain and hidden scars,
And secrets locked in iron bars,
The thoughts I've kept inside my mind,
The person who I've tried to hide,
The feelings deep inside my heart,
In what I thought were hidden parts,
The glass reflects, and reveals all,
Mirror, mirror, on the wall.
It tells the truth, it cannot lie,
But truth just doesn't satisfy
The crying of my aching heart-
A life that has been torn apart.
The hurt revealed within the glass-
No longer hidden by the mask-
It shows when my tears start to fall,
Mirror, mirror, on the wall.
But, I look again, and then I see
Another part of the same me.
A beauty that was hidden deep
Awakens from its winter sleep.
Displayed across the glass, I see
It's been there all along in me.
The painful image starts to fall,
Mirror, mirror, on the wall.
A brand new image falls in place,
The tears stop flowing down my face.
I scan the glass in disbelief,
While my heart breaks in new relief.
The lies are gone, the truth is clear.
A beautiful me stands without fear
In front of the glass, that reveals all,
Mirror, mirror, on the wall.
I do not fear the mirror's eye,
For I no longer believe the lie
That beauty's just above the skin-
True beauty resides deep within.
The glass reveals who I've become,
The battles fought, the victories won,
I see the beauty in it all,
Mirror, mirror, on the wall.
