bright patches float in the grass
bright patches float in the grass
like warped spots against shadowed green silk
a brother bumps into his sister
a little too hard
and she trips and falls
the mom runs over
frantic with the mother-worry
that only comes from her child's tears
she lifts her baby
presses her soft smooth face
to her own shoulder
the child forgets all wrong
the world did to her within moments
and squirms to be put down
the mom smiles wearily
as the daughter run away
giggling
