Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
It started out in spring, like many things good
And we laughed and played just like we should
The nights were feeling long; so far our apart our visits seemed
Though I secretly loved night, my chance to see you in my dreams
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
Summer turned to fall and we didn’t notice at all
And even as the leaves faded, from vibrant green
Our hearts, yours and mine, had yet to be seen
After all,
Goodnight is just Goodbye
With better dreams
And your hand fit perfectly in mine, left and right
You always did let me be right
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
Fall turned to winter and we just passed right on through
Cold as ever outside, but like a movie,
I was warm with you
Goodnight, Goodnight, Goodnight
And winter will turn to spring, not long from now
And we’ll look back and smile, and never wonder how
Because everything is perfect, when I’m with you
And every single day I live feels brand-new
I hate to say goodnight, but I know my dreams will be fine
Because every night is perfect, when you’re on my mind
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
