You Don't Know Yourself
She’s sipping her drink,
But she’s not thirsty;
She just needs some sort of
Entertainment;
Some sort of
Distraction
From reality.
Some girls are singing -
More like screeching,
The sound of brakes
Against pavement -
To some song
That must be popular.
Some girl calls out,
“You don’t even know yourself!”
It’s meant as a harmless joke -
Just like that time
She was pushed;
Tumbled down stairs,
Head over heels and
Heels over head -
But it’s the truth
Nonetheless.
She doesn’t.
Neither do they.
