Nightfall
They watch me from the shadows
A better hiding place by far
Waiting for my one false move
To start our nightly war
These beasts have dark, long faces
Their eyes bloodshot and red
They're waiting for the night to fall
And then I'm good as dead
Their claws are sharp as razor knives
Their teeth like deep black steel
They hunger for our soft warm flesh
As their evening meal
I'll outfox them this time, though
It's me they'll never take
For these monsters can't engulf my mind
While I'm still wide awake
