The Rose I Once Carried
The simple symbol of love
The flower every girl hopes for
I carried this symbol as carefully as I could
And still you shut the doors
A deep red, or a pure white
Both colors show the truth of it all
The one I carried was white but soon became red that night
And the rose I carried began its fall
I must have slipped, or caught a crack in the road.
It no longer matters now, nothing can be done
The rose I carried fell on the floor, I broke a sacred code
Now it lies there still shriveled and gone, and I am left, just one.
