Birthday Wishes
Birthday wishes,
and candy kisses,
another year to carry on our shoulders.
The days of Barbie shoes
and blue bow dresses seem like history,
when in reality, they aren't far away.
Always wanting to grow up,
now wishing to grow down,
our life was never simple.
Mud baths,
and paper wrapped gifts;
that is what our history book is made of.
Boys and makeup,
that was so cliche,
rain and silliness was our game.
So growing up never meant getting older,
it just means more responsibility and understanding.
I wish I was still naive.
Maybe I will blow out my candle with that wish.
