Fridays
On a cold winter night,
Annie sits all alone,
Waiting for daddy
To finally come home.
But the day’s getting later,
So she heads off to bed,
She knows he’ll come back.
In her heart, not her head.
Friday she leaves on a train for LA,
Hoping to finally
Get time away.
But Monday is coming,
And she just can’t wait,
To finally see who is out at her gate.
Monday comes chilly,
And Tuesday goes by,
Wednesday she waits
In the rain for her ride.
And Thursday she sits,
On her porch with a guy,
Still waiting for daddy,
To finally stop by.
And Friday she leaves on a train for LA,
Hoping to finally
Get time away.
But Monday is coming,
And she just can’t wait,
To finally see who is out at her gate.
Cuz daddy came home,
About twenty years late.
And she still doesn’t know him,
And he came just too late.
So maybe he should
have left work just once,
To spend time with Annie,
Just a weekend a month.
Cuz Friday she leaves on a train for LA,
Hoping to finally
Get time away.
But Monday is coming,
And she wants to wait
Cuz no one will be
At her gate.
