As the days go by…
Sundays were the only day of rest
sleeping in till morning was long gone
aching muscles that never seemed to heal
from continuous labor and training
that made him stronger as the days went by.
We’d eat dinner without him
wondering when he would return
Finally, late in the night, he would emerge out of the darkness
and I would come to greet him.
We would try to get him to talk
but fatigue stole his personality for the moment
as he slept I wondered why
and then I realized that at the end of the day.
He still loved it more than ever.
