"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

I glance over my shoulder and see my angel friend
He’s my guardian, protector, and on him I depend

A lance you hold in your hand so dear
And I stand by you, very proud to be here

You’re a valiant soldier, and you protect all
Each night and day I pray I’ll never see you fall

As you take your stance at the horizon of fate
Just know, my love, for you I am prepared to wait

Keep yourself safe, and never give in
Your fight has only just started to begin

A fight breaks out, in that valley so small
And I watched, my love, you fight and then fall

A single tear drifts down, unstoppable to me
As I run to you, my only true destiny

Help him now! Somebody please!
Have all your friends turned into enemies?

Can’t they do something? Anything at all?
I think hysterically as others begin to fall

The fighting ends, a brutal draw over at last
But, my love, I fear you’ve become a part of the past

I cripple to the ground, grief has overcome
Oh my knight! Please say it hasn’t been done!

But, your soul, I’m afraid has moved on
I’m glad that at least you’ll be where you belong

Be a good angel, my love, as I know you can
But don’t ever leave me till I join you again

So stay with me always, my dear knight
And let me know that for me you will fight

Even though the claws of cruelty nip at my door
I know you’ll be here for forever more

A soul by my side all through the years
Here to wipe away all my sorrowful tears

I love you oh dear knight of my heart,
And I know you love me, though you must now depart

I was kind of inspired to write this through a book a read about Lancelot and Tristan and the other knights in the Medieval times...so it's kind of different but it makes me remember all the soldiers fighting for our country. But, hey, everybody wants someone to guard their heart, right?
