Alive
Alive
We each are unique, our lives a song,
Its notes make this world a place where we belong.
From our first day there is but one certainty
The sole definite in a future we cannot see
And though the sacraments convince its not to be
Our end is our only guarantee.
With each breath we inch toward our last
Eventually obscuring that which has passed
For some their stay may be fast
That’s no reason not to go out with a blast
As the great white or the mayfly
We have a thing we cannot deny
Live for life, allow not time to pass by
But use it in order to reach for the sky.
It may come in winter or even in spring
Let it not be our downfall but the thing
We thrive off and on to cling
As our lives we live and our songs we sing.
