Veterans Memorial
Far away from family
In a fox hole on the ground
Lies a fallen soldier
Without a single sound
Sleep is hard to come by
When home is on the mind if you’ve felt the pain of mines
You’re not the first one of the times
For all that died and cried
Know that love is on your side
By the wall of a thousand names
Stand the people with no shame.
For they know you are commemorated
By name and rank and age
Heart fully regretted are those who died
Definitely neglected is the feeling of those alive
Now at home and not a stone
Are the broken hearts of those alone
Dreams and nightmares soon consume
The lives of those who met no doom.
