Pain
Hunched over in a heap
Comprehending lyrics of depth
I pray for time to pause
As pain bursts at the seems
Tears well like an ebbing tide
Turning away from the ones I loved
As the tide turns to a wave
It crashes; wearing away the remnants
Legs give in
Along with the strength held in my chest
Concave on the ground once more
Clutching my head with gnarled fingers
Tugging at my hair
I search for the slightest hope
My reflection in the glass scowls back
A collapsed barren soul
I fasten my eyelids shut
As if closing a door to this chapter
One I worked almost too hard to conclude
But the pen’s run out of ink
And I wasn’t even half done
