Like the dock on the lakeside in early morning fog, soundless, and not a ripple disturbing the water’s glassy surface.

Empty.

Like a child’s dream in the night is lost when the dawn bids him wake, not a trace is left.

Empty.

Like a tingling spider’s web, fully weaved overnight and dripping with dew, awaiting the first prey to make the drops dance on its strings.

Empty.

Like a gaping mouth robbed of words, a body in shock, senseless and dull, breath sucked from the lips.

Empty.

Like a newborn baby’s lungs fresh from birth, red-faced, gasping for breath to fill its body with new life.

Empty.

Awaiting the new day…
