Like the first snow of the season
Breathtaking, beautiful, unexpected,
You fall in love for the first time
Unsure of where it’s headed.

The flakes begin to fall
Concealing the world in white,
He’s everything you wanted
You give in, your heart won the fight.

The clouds become heavier
The snow picks up speed,
He kisses you goodnight
Suddenly you can no longer breathe.

The clouds begin to clear
The snow stops falling from the sky,
You look at him with question
Beginning to see through his disguise.

The snow melts away
Leaving room for another time,
Taking a deep breath,
He whispers to you goodbye.

Like the first snow of the season
Breathtaking, beautiful, unexpected,
Your first love will break your heart
Leaving room for another to mend it.

The author's comments:
I was watching the snow fall for the fist time this season and it inspired me to write a poem about winter. I was going through a difficult break up so the ideas combined into one to create First Love.
