New York
Sirens wail and taxis honk
As they flash by on the streets of New York.
Though it’s autumn there are no leaves to crunch beneath my feet
For concrete stretches on and on along such a beaten street.
The wind whips at my face and tousles my hair,
Twirling and twisting down into Times Square.
Buildings are like trees, stretching stories high
Almost as if they are taunting the sky.
Sirens wail and taxis honk
As they flash by on the streets of New York.
A life here would mean a bustling one,
To awake to this cacophony when your day has just begun.
Pigeons are the only animals in sight
Coming towards them they take flight.
This city is dirty and crammed and loud
Filled with people, huddled in crowds.
Sirens wail and taxis honk
As they flash by on the streets of New York.
