I'd Give You Many Things
I look out my window
At the sun above,
And all I can think of
Is that I’m thankful for love.
The clouds slowly float,
The sky is azure blue,
But I think little of it,
And can think only of you:
I’d give you many things,
And I hope you know,
That when it’s winter,
I’ll give you snow.
And when your lips are parched
From too much sun,
I’ll invoke the clouds,
And let gentle rain run.
And when your feet are cut
From the broken glass,
Underneath your feet
I shall nurture the grass.
And when your heart is tired
From being lifted and torn,
I’ll be by your side,
And I myself worn,
For my heart is yours,
Forever yours.
But shall I receive anything
In return?
Shall I have a heart to shield
Me from any burn?
No, but I don’t mind,
For my giving is getting.
During winter or summer,
Or as the sun is setting,
I’d give you many things,
And I hope you know
That as time passes,
My love only grows.
And for your smile,
I’d rise up the sun,
And every single day,
You’ll be my heart’s only one.
And for your laugh,
I’d extend my hand,
Pulling a rainbow,
From land to land.
And for your embrace,
My tears would be worth,
For your holy embrace,
Would fill me with mirth.
And for your lips,
Surely, I’d die!
For I should faint
If you came nigh!
But for your tears,
I’d give nothing,
Nothing but love--
And heavens above--
I do hope that’s something!
And with your heart,
I’d survive anything,
For compared to this love,
All becomes nothing.
