i am Mardi Gras
i am the sophisticated, purple bead, dangling carelessly on your neck
i am the exuberant cheetah mask you hide behind
i am the sound of happiness and the song of spirit.
spicy food leaves fire in your mouth.
i fear the loneliness that awaits when you depart
i remember having everyone unleash the animal in them with me.
i am a sanctuary where truth is revealed
celebration lingers where ever i touch
i am alone from the million who greet me
i am the party float everyone gawks at.
