I think I always knew

Who you were

I think I always knew

Who I wasn't

Self-conscience and vain

I fell into step with you

I'm not naive

Just a coward

Simply scared

I silently screamed at you

You never noticed

You'll never notice

Because

You aren't exactly smart


But I'm a coward

And far too kind to tell you.

The author's comments:
This was written in about 5 minutes. It's basically my relationship with someone who I know or...knew since we don't speak anymore. I wanted to be close to them because of dumb reasons, but after I wrote this I was completely done and I've broken off all ties with them. This person is still sadly stuck in oblivion where they think that they are God's gift to mankind. I've moved on though. No longer someones shadow. I'm me.
