My mind drifts
away
to one bright sweet
day.
I gathered my beautiful friend and
we climbed up and climbed and
beneath us
the soft grass fell away
to the rush of the river and
rocks below.
My enormous bonsai with
many lovely seats
within its branches,
Clings strongly but
Leans dangerously
close to the cliff's jagged edge.
Enveloping us in strong boughs and
soft green leaves.
Holding us fast with certain delicacy,
while the Sun sinks low
behind the hills
And the lights of the highway
arise in the dusk.
We watch
and
listen
and
dream
into
eternity ...
