Rock Solid
huddled bodies,
shoulder to shoulder.
tears stream down their cheeks,
broken gasps escape their lips.
i sit in the middle,
a rock for others to cling to.
but my eyes stay dry,
my breath is steady.
you admire my strength in the face of tragedy,
i despise my lack of emotion.
am i barren inside?
or are the emotions locked behind a metal gate,
waiting,
for someone to find the key,
and open the floodgates?
