To an Angel
When I was little my cousin and I played a game
Pick a leaf from a tree
Wrap a thought, a hug, a kiss inside
Tie the stem around the leaf
And grandpa would receive it in the sky
We’d place them in a tree branch
And forget about them
Months later they’d be gone
We knew grandpa heard
Now, I’m not religious
But I miss you
So, I will venture to the rainforest
Pick the biggest leaf
Wrap myself in it and think of you
