“Your braids like a pattern,
Love you to the moon, and to Saturn.”
I’ve left my shoes under the couch.
Maybe they should stay there.
Then, maybe, a piece of me will stay
when I’m long gone.
Like the spot on the carpet
that’s been there for as long as I can remember.
I see it, mirrored, on my soul.
This place has left its mark on me.
Some stains, not even the gods can wash away.

Thank you for considering my poem! It's not a simultaneous submission - I want to make sure there's no risk that any of my work gets published in two places accidentally.

"seven - Taylor Swift" is how I'm currently feeling as I get ready to graduate high school. I did my best to reference both spots in our theater office, a place where I spend much of my time, as well as the last play that we performed, Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses
