Ode to Lulu
Lulu, my dearest companion,
Your passing has left a gaping hole inside of my heart.
The memories of our time together flood my mind,
And I am so, so grateful for every moment that we ever shared.
Your tail, wagging with excitement reminding me of the hand on a metronome,
A warm welcome home to me, no matter the distance.
Your eyes, bright and full of love, as well as red from your cherry eyes,
A constant reminder of the joy you brought to me, now it's from above.
Your coat, so soft, so smooth to the touch, you glistened in the sun,
A comforting embrace that I will miss so much.
Your howl, the deep sound still echoes in my room,
It was our symphony of love that echoes all around.
Your nose, so keen and even sharper than a razorblade,
You could sniff out the needle in the haystack.
Your paws, so gentle on the floor, with your rock hard nails clicking and clacking behind you.
Your love, unconditional and true,
Is a treasure I’ll never forget and hold deep to my heart, too.
In my dreams, I still see my hound, dog running and playing with me in the yard.
My redbone coonhound is more free than ever now.
Your absence is a heavy weight,
A grief that’ll take time to heal.
But in my heart, your love will always stay,
You now get to be the shining light that gets me through each day.
So rest easy Lulu belle,
In peace and happiness, forever true.
I’m gonna miss my queen way more than words could ever say,
But I will continue to carry your memory every single day.

This poem is about my dog who just died. I wanted to pay her some tribute because she was my dog for 14 years and I miss her everyday.
