To be Adrift
I went for a stroll and the sky grayed;
I laid for eternity upon torn hemlock stems and finally grasped repose.
(I didn’t think you’d find me as I strayed.)
The fog crawls to the base of the forest’s shade
and a lurid emptiness creeps in:
I went for a stroll and the sky grayed
I hasten to reach you before you fade
and smitten with a dear soul, delicately wax adoration.
(I didn’t think you’d find me as I strayed.)
Eros’s bow becomes unstrung, the liver pumps blood,
Enter nothingness’s lure and void’s clutch:
I went for a stroll and the sky grayed
I was waiting for you as my elation decayed,
And now the only hand I hold is that of melancholy…
(I didn’t think you’d find me as I strayed)
I perhaps should’ve instead searched for the elysian promenade;
At least then I would've been able to embrace the passion of apathy.
I went for a stroll and the sky grayed
(I didn’t think you’d find me as I strayed)
