The Sad Things- A Speech
There’s always going to be sad things.
Whether it be bad grades, someone mad at you, or someone dying.
It’s gonna impact you somehow, whether you like it or not.
But what’s gonna be important is that you can’t hide from it,
Push it away, or avoid it.
You’re gonna have to face it.
And I know that sounds scary, and it sounds burdensome, but you gotta do it.
You gotta do it.
Because if you don’t, a pool of darkness wells up inside you,
And it’s gonna keep filling up,
Until you overflow.
It’s really inevitable, honestly.
And as I’m writing this, I realize this may sound harsh,
But I'm thinking back to the times when I didn’t face my sadness, anger or negative feelings.
And I actually wouldn’t change that.
Because while it was an unwise decision, it made me the strong person I am today.
Sadness, regret, anger, sorrow, grief.
Joy, excitement, love, pleasure, passion.
These are our human emotions, and they are beautiful.
Truly.
You should feel them, flow through them, notice them. Don’t you dare hide them away.
Because if you do, the darkness pool will well up inside you once more.
So, the sad things.
Are beautiful.
