When the Lights Go Off...
You close your eyes,
and wish for the lights to go back on.
you lay there,
scared of the dark,
whisphering words of encouragement.
telling yourself
your fine...
you hear the dog breathing.
you hear the wind,
threating to knock the door down.
lightning aluminates the room,
exposing yourself to the world.
thunder shakes your bed,
and fear tingles up your spine.
paranoia pushing you further,
and further...
your stomach becomes upset.
you gulp down your nightmares,
and try to sleep.
wait.
what's that?
is someone there?
you run and swich on the lights,
but no ones here.
a sense of relief rolls over you,
and you climb back into bed.
you hear the noise again,
and your heart jumps.
pulse quickining,
you try to calm yourself.
you close your eyes,
and pray to live on until tomorrow.
then you turn off the lights one more time,
trying to avoid the monsters under your bed.
