They took you from your home,

with no promise of return.

Then they took your past away,

And then they let it burn.

In the horrid camp,

for mercy you did plea.

Your one and only wish,

you just want to be free.

You couldn’t understand,

the terror in the screams,

of the others in the camp.

You thought “What could this mean?”

You heard the guards all laughing,

as Jews in pain all groan.

The snickers that they made,

had a cruel and evil tone.

Oh, poor little Klara,

as your intense pain grew,

I wish you didn’t have to know

the terrors that you knew.

They took you from your sister,

your mother killed with gas.

You cried and wouldn’t stop,

as every day did pass.

Like you, the others were thin,

for lack of food was true.

All they ever gave you

was bread and putrid stew.

If you were to make a mistake,

they pushed you in the mud.

Then they would all whip you,

till in your mouth was the taste of blood.

You met your sister through a fence,

before the role call horn did blow.

Until the day they took your life,

never again at the fence would you ever show.

Oh, poor little Klara,

as your intense pain grew,

I wish you didn’t have to know

the terrors that you knew.
