It
When It's all a mess,
but the issue is me
when I search for a cure,
but It won't leave me be
Do I curl up and cry,
or scold myself in the mirror
My eyes are both dry,
but nothing is clearer
My head's a child's room
after they've played
My heart's in a box -
the walls that I've made
I push on blindly,
It all looks okay
I stop for a second,
The strands are all frayed
Like a wildfire to others,
nothing stands in my path
Black all around me,
everything turned to ash
But you stand right beside me,
you've stayed through it all
I know when I trip
you won't let me fall
My fires haven't burned you,
they instead warmed your skin
You're climbing the walls
my heart is trapped in
I hope one day you'll reach it
or I'll be set free
I'll put out the flames
that've always surrounded me
Until then It torments
all that I think
A curse and a gift,
truth whenever I blink
I hate It so much,
but It's my favorite thing
It wants me to suffer,
but allows me to sing
This game of hot and cold
keeps me alive
and no matter what
I will always survive.

Sometimes it's hard to make sence of life and emotions, but turning everything into a metaphor really helps.
