I’ve Got a Zillion Dreams— You Can’t Stop Me!
Air fills my lungs,
Basking in hot sun
Crying to sad music while
Dreaming of love and dance.
Echoes of blue winged birds in the morning
Fade out into the distance.
Girly things, and
High heels
I am too young to wear.
Jumping the ocean waves
Kissed by sunlight
Letting go of shame.
Melting into bliss, these wonders
Nullify my fears so I may
Open the door with a
Pounding heart that
Quietly beats to the drum of journey.
Running beyond the barrier
Soak every drop of hope.
Though,
Underneath there is
Vulnerability hidden,
Wrapped in my warm blue sweater—
X-ray upon my heart
You may find I am made of a
Zillion dreams and more

Hi! I'm Jessica Kenny, a senior in high school. I wrote this abecedarian following my study of the American Poetry Journal (2017 Edition) last year. It demonstrates my habit of dreaming, and how I use it to overcome my fears.
