Dream
Head on my chest, lays, laughing, a dream
Of honeydew-eyes and warm apple cream
Who looks like the dawn and feels just like snow
Whose love I have loved much longer than known
The stars have gone soft, wrapped up in her stare
They melt in the sky like my hand in her hair
Light spills from the moon to shower her skin
Her whisper is warmth in the cold autumn wind
Surrendered completely, I float with the tide
My beacon, my anchor, leaves me glassy-eyed
Entranced as I am, a fear swims in my head
That one day I’ll weep all that I’ve left unsaid.
My name is Vaidehi, and I'm a high-school student from Mumbai. I love reading and writing, as well as music — specifically singing, vocal production, and playing instruments. This poem I wrote aims to describe the excitement and fear associated with nascent queer love.
