"How clever you are, my dear! You never mean a single word you say." - O.W

Walking down the street,
he spotted a shine.
“I’ll go check it out,
it could be a sign.”

“It’s only a knife.”
As his eyes looked down.
“Why is this here?
There is no one around!”

Disappointment in her face,
as he showed his wife.
He told her with promise
“It’s only a knife!”

He left the house,
behind him she locked it.
He walked through the park
with the knife in his pocket.

It isn’t a bomb,
and it isn’t a gun.
“It’s only a knife!”
He assured everyone.

A woman tapped his shoulder,
she must be mistook.
She stared at his knife,
then asked for a look.

The park seemed quiet,
including the wind and the birds.
She pulled out a chisel,
and carved in some words.

He stared at her,
with total confusion.
Then fell to the ground
in utter delusion.

Carved in the blade
read “It’s only a knife”.
It’s a shame he couldn’t see it,
for it ended his life.

I felt I needed more poems that told a story, rather than a message in order to inform.

THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. See, most people that use rhyme schemes with their poems, sometimes don't pull it off. I think you did a wonderful job!
