The Importance of Travel
Being in a new country is an exciting and fascinating experience.
Countless hours of sitting through plane trips followed by more hours of restless car rides, until finally, you realize you’re there- bringing a new surge of energy rushing through your body. Yet the new scenery still makes up for it, a feeling so surreal, like you’re not actually there, like in a movie.
German signs and billboards fill the streets with incomprehensible letters and words that I cannot understand. Small homes with intricate designs and layered roofing, little courtyards, and gardens filling the small space between houses. Train whistles echo in the distance; most people use railways rather than cars - I learned that gas is very expensive here. Either that or people will walk or ride their bikes to their destinations.
Days upon days of non-stop activities. Wake up, get ready, leave for the day’s destination, eat dinner out, come back home, go to sleep, repeat. Exhausting, yet so exhilarating at the same time. Each day brings a new adventure until it is all over. You pack your bags, hop back on the plane, and go back home. Go back to normal, boring reality.
But that’s what makes it all worthwhile. To get away from reality, if only for a little time. To escape and explore the world you have yet to discover. To learn, to live, to have fun, and make memories. That's the most significant part.
