"When I'm sometimes asked 'when will there be enough women on the supreme court?' and I say when there are nine, people are shocked. But there'd been nine men, and nobody's ever raised a question about that." - RBG

People of justice, freedom, and fear

I've come today to spread a message for you to hear

Not a message to be overlooked

Please dear child look away from your book

This is an important message of God's

The word of evil dependent on the odds

We will suffer and barely survive

But then again I'm sure we will thrive

We must stick together

Through all wind and weather

No matter the color or gender

All that matters is were the same as the other

We all share a wanting

Through hours of haunting

You fought for your rights

Flew to different heights

Don't lose them now

Please take a bow

You are important and beautiful

The rivers are plentiful

Our ancestors bled and fought

Do not let this come down to not

Not a soul, kingdom, or person

Could see such a worsen

Beside you is a someone

Child, man, or women

All alike and even then

It could all come to an end

But today you are a friend

No longer an enemy

Stay friends for eternity

For a thousand years

Stay above all fears

Only for love may you live so long

The bang of the gong

The softest whisper

The loudest laugh

The tiniest prayer

Can tear you up

I wrote this for my school writing class! I was inspired by Amanda Gorman's poem that she read at the inauguration.
