Stained Glass
Love is pointless
And I will never believe that
Despite the broken pieces
The world is filled with lily light
Because now I know
Everything falls apart
Because of us
It’s not true that
You are always beside me
And I know
Joy’s dancing petals
Aren’t much compared to
Pain’s jagged glasses
I’ve felt it all.
We are nothing like family
And words lie when they say
Color can be crafted through tears
Because I know
I will shatter
I don’t believe that
Allowing myself to fall
Means
Letting you catch me
I’ve learned that
Being me isn’t enough, and
Nothing is as false as thinking that
My soul is my happy place.
You don’t understand
Anything
And I can’t say
We are a team
I remember that
I closed my eyes for a while but now
You have faded forever, into the field, and
It’s not true that
Stained glass is beautiful.
