Duct Tape
As the stars fall to the ground
Making your head spin round and round
You’re gazing up at the glittering sky
Watching the lights just slowly die.
Some burst into sparks of brilliant color
Others taking on a sickly pallor
Forgetting their job of twinkling bright
Struggling to shine a dull and dirty white.
Then there’s the moon with her cold, disgusted stare
Chilling the world with her bitter glare
That lovers so passionately associate with
They don’t really see that it’s only a myth.
What makes them think the moon would care
Humbling the rest with that angry stare
Some fight through all those lies and deceit
That she beams down to eagerly defeat.
The hearts that were whole now lay shattered
Bodies near broken and souls battered
At least there’s a temporary way to mend together
Too bad duct tape doesn’t last forever.
