Freedom
When the days grow short
the imagination runs wild
the summer comes out to play.
The air gets sticky
the bugs get annoying
and each is a good day.
The sun beats down
the flowers open up
and magic can be seen.
Evening cookouts
swimming pool outings
coating the world with a sheen.
Only when the days get short
and the air starts to thin
do the children start to mourn the loss of their precious freedom
